Hello All

As you are already aware, the Provincial Government released its 2026 Budget yesterday. Attached is a media release prepared by OCHU in response to the budget.

The budget provides a 4% increase in hospital funding, which is still short of the 6% increase hospitals need to keep pace with rising costs.

We want to take a moment to recognize the impact of your activism. The 4% increase is a direct result of your hard work:

  • Pushing back against job cuts in your workplaces.
  • Attending and speaking up at MPP and hospital rallies.
  • Attending FAC meetings and asking important questions.

Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and together, we’ve achieved a 2% improvement.

However, this is not the time to relax. We are still 2% short, and more pressure is needed to secure the funding our hospitals require.

Over the coming weeks, we have locals holding workplace rallies, and regional rallies hosted by the OHC ( Ontario Health Coalition). We are encouraging you to attend the ones in your region if possible

Your activism made a difference and we need to continue the fight.

In Solidarity

Michael, Kevin and Sharon
