Please note we cupe are not against the merger . We are and always will be against cuts to healthcare services and beds. We welcome any merger that does not result in job loss. Please do not be comforted by the employers claim “we do not foresee any job loss”. That is about as reassuring as the term endeavor.
To be clear we are 100% not against the merger but we are against the low funding levels that caused the merger.
Local 1974 at the Pull Together for Epilepsy event Sunday July 17, 2016. We raised a record setting amount of funds as well we finished with the second fastest time. We had great support from our fans and we all had a blast. Thanks to everyone who was involved without you this would never have been possible.

Medal for most funds raised
Council has approved a by-law requiring all members (excluding those in the Non-Practicing Class) to hold Professional Liability Protection (PLP). This by-law comes into effect March 31, 2014.

CUPE encourages health care workers to get an influenza vaccination if they can safely
do so. But making flu shots mandatory for health care workers is a serious intrusion on
the freedom and personal autonomy of health care workers that may sometimes have detrimental effects on their own health.
